Adult Chess in the Eastern Sierra
The Eastern Sierra Chess Club welcomes adult players of all skill levels — from beginners learning the game to experienced tournament players. Our adult chess program emphasizes friendly, informal play while also supporting competitive chess through rated events and tournament opportunities.
Whether you are returning to chess after many years or play regularly, our club provides a relaxed and welcoming place to play.
Weekly Games:
Wednesday at Salsa's temporarily paused during summer. Will resume in August.
Occasional over the board (OTB) games and tournaments
We encourage everyone to join our club at Chess.com. The account is free and is where the club shares announcements and informal communications.
What to Expect
Our adult chess activities include:
● Informal, over-the-board chess meetings
● Casual games and friendly competition
● Opportunities to analyze games and discuss strategy
● Occasional tournaments and rated events
● Connections to regional and USCF-affiliated tournaments
Most meetings are informal and drop-in friendly — no long-term commitment is required.
A Community for Chess Players
Chess is both social and intellectually engaging. Our adult program focuses on building a local chess community where players can enjoy the game, learn from one another, and stay connected.
We emphasize:
● A respectful, welcoming atmosphere
● Good sportsmanship
● Learning through play and conversation
● Inclusion of players at all experience levels
USCF-Affiliated Club
The Eastern Sierra Chess Club is a US Chess Federation (USCF)–affiliated club. This allows us to:
● Host USCF-rated tournaments
● Support players interested in obtaining or maintaining a USCF rating
● Connect local players with the broader chess community
● Participation in USCF events is optional — casual play is always welcome.
